Judith, I am fascinated and excited by your work. Thank you for your generosity in sharing your process. In your grid series, are you still using acrylic; how do you get it to finish with such transparency of layers. Do you use a particular medium?

Thank you! Yes, I use primarily acrylic in conjunction with collage (sometimes) and drawing media. I use gloss medium to create transparent glazes, matte medium to give me a drawable (with pencil/colored pencil) surface, and a combination of the 2 for a final coating to give the piece a consistant surface. I use primarily Liquitex paints and mediums because I have used them forever and know just what they will do.

Are these created on watercolor paper or hardboard? Thanks.

I really enjoy looking at your work. I love your grid series. Your choice of colors are beautiful and pleasing in all your paintings. And your compositions keep me looking so I don’t miss anything. If you ever start doing workshops again please let all your admirers know. I would love to learn more of your thoughts on how to have a nice painting evolve to be an interesting painting.

I agree. Beautiful work and would a in person or on.ine workshop with you Judith. How do you decide what kind of grid you are going to use? I did in 1980s a couple of Watercolor paintings by njust hand drawn random grid. It is fun.

I have no workshops scheduled at this time.
I don’t usually decide about a specific type or size grid to use ahead of time…… they just kind of appear as I work on the piece, sometimes unconsciously, and sometimes as a way to lend cohesiveness to the composition.
